George Smith is Phil, Bill Kackmeister is Eugene and Kevin Winder is Carl in "Flaming Idiots," the last production of the season at the North Platte Community Playhouse. The final performance opens at 8 p.m. today at the Neville Center for the Performing Arts.
Phil and Carl are two ex-postal clerks who want to be their own bosses and to be rich. The two open a restaurant that is in trouble from that moment.
Task, an officer of the Mounted Patrol, is played by Ryan C. Pleiss. Bernadette, portrayed by Nita Kendall, is the restaurants natural-health-foods chef, who is also deaf.
John Noonan plays Ernesto and he is "smitten" with Jayne Fryman, played by Sara Kirsh.
Last, but certainly not least, of the cast is Louie, a hitman played by Frank Graham.
"Flaming Idiots is directed by Cecelia Lawrence and assistant director is Carolyn Clark.
In the directors notes, Lawrence wrote there are 186 entrances and exits that occur on stage through five different doors. Many of these entrances and exits are on the run.
The play is fast-paced, funny and entertaining. Even the younger ones in the family will enjoy the visual comedy.
