Golf is a bargain for the North Platte Traveler
By Rich Skinner
North Platte is half way between Omaha and Denver. Just about the right
time to stop, stretch your legs and play a round of golf.
It may come as a surprise to the traveling public, but North Platte has
a lot more golf to offer visitors of all ages than most towns of its size.
You may not think of the North Platte area as a golfing hotbed. You should!
If you look at the number of courses and the affordability, you can see
that there is a lot of great golf in the North Platte area, on unique
courses, that score big with golfers of all abilities.
Come stay and play North Platte. North Platte is a great place to tee
it up.
There are two public courses and one private course within the immediate
North Platte area: Indian Meadows Golf Course, Iron Eagle Golf Course
and the North Platte Country Club. All three have Professional Golf Association
golf professionals, fully stocked pro shops, driving ranges, carts and
club rental equipment in case you did not bring your clubs.
If your game is in trouble, lessons are also available from many capable
PGA pros.
There are two other courses in the
area: Lake Maloney, six miles south of North Platte, and Oregon Trail Golf
Course in Sutherland, 22 miles west of North Platte.

play is quite fast. Starting times are easy to obtain with just a phone
call. If it's a weekend, it would be good to call ahead. Whatever your handicap,
