Dear
Visitor:
On behalf of the citizens of North Platte, I would like to extend our warmest
welcome to you during your stay here. We hope you have time to see some
of our special attractions and to shop in some of our stores before you
travel on. |
 |

North Platte's most famous citizen, William F. "Buffalo Bill"
cody is memorialized in a wonderful museum consisting of his Scout's Rest
Ranch Home and a large barn in the northwest part of town. Close by is the
Lincoln County Museum with many old time buildings plus an interior display
depicting the world famous Union Pacific Canteen that served 6,000,000 service
people (at no charge) during World War II. |

Visit our Cody Park on North Highway 83 and see the Avenue
of Flags and the life size statue of Buffalo Bill. Railroad buffs will enjoy
seeing the Railroad Museum in the southeast corner of Cody Park. |

North Platte is also home of the world's largest railroad
classification yard, which stretches for several miles from the western
edge of town. |

In any event, enjoy your stay here and come back as often
as you can. |

Sincerely,

James D. Whitaker
Mayor |
