Choosing a Personal Fitness Trainer

By Tracy Robinson

Have you ever wondered if you would benefit from having a personal fitness trainer? The answer is an unqualified, “YES!” With the help of a personal trainer, you can anticipate a drastic change in your lifestyle and well being.

At one time, athletes were generally the only individuals who used a personal trainer to help them excel at their sport. Today, people from all walks of life, including celebrities and senior citizens, use personal trainers to teach them how to exercise and how to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
The benefits of having a personal trainer range from improving your fitness level, rehabilitation after an illness or operation or injury, losing a few pounds, improving your general health or even training for an event such as a marathon.

A qualified and experienced trainer will assess your current level of fitness, consider your goals and plan an individually tailored regime to help you achieve those goals quickly and safely. They know that every person and every body is different and each has specific needs, so they can design a program to fit your specific needs. They will also work hard to provide plenty of motivation and encouragement and provide ongoing advice regarding lifestyle, general health and nutrition.

Personal trainers know the body also gets used to doing the same exercises every day, so most of them will incorporate a lot of variety in your program. Most trainers use methods that include weight lifting, aerobics and balance and flexibility exercises to help clients reach their goals.
Personal trainers also ensure clients use proper form while exercising to avoid injuries. They know that one small mistake could result in injury or render the exercise ineffective. The trainer you select should have a current national certification such as ACE, NCSM, NSCA or AFAA, and it is preferable that they have a bachelor’s degree in a health related field. They should also be able to provide updated information on the newest and safest exercise trends.

If you are just beginning an exercise program, it is always a good idea to schedule one or two sessions with a personal trainer in order to form a plan and gather tips on proper form and gym safety. Some individuals may choose to see a trainer only occasionally to make sure they are on the right track, while others need motivation and encouragement on a regular basis.

Ultimately, many individuals have discovered that having a personal trainer can provide the expertise, encouragement and motivation that all the fitness magazines in the world can’t provide.

The Sunless Experience
By Johna Rasmussen

In the past year, UV free spray tanning has taken tanning to healthy levels! Some of the nation’s largest entertainment and fashion magazines have taken note of this new spray tanning experience. This could very well be the fastest-growing cosmetic treatment to hit the market in the last decade.

In recent years, having a golden tan has become the quintessential fashion statement and tans have been pursued regardless of the UV rays that can damage your skin. Skin cancer has become an epidemic – about one million Americans are diagnosed annually with various types of the disease. Statistics show that one American dies every hour from melanoma skin cancer. Studies have linked a heightened cancer risk to the UV rays from natural sunlight and tanning lamps, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation.

To alleviate the risks associated with natural sunlight and tanning lamps, many experts now recommend a UV free spray tanning system for anyone who would like to add a healthy, natural looking tan to their skin. This system works well for individuals who have a hard time acquiring a tan. Individuals with red or blond hair, freckles or light skin rarely, if ever, tan and will generally suffer from sunburn after significant exposure to UV rays.

The UV free spray tanning system also works well for health-conscious individuals who desire a beautiful, golden tan but may not have the time or patience to deal with the suns harmful UV rays. It’s also great for people who want to obtain a tan quickly for a special event, such as a prom or wedding.

Getting a tan in a UF free spray tanning booths is an easy process. Individuals simply step into a unit that resembles a high-tech shower stall and, with the push of a button, the unit will spray a fine mist of bronzers, moisturizers, vitamins and dihydroxyacetone for 8 to 10 seconds.
Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is a colorless sugar that makes the magical self-tanning process happen when it reacts with the skins proteins, including amino acids, in the outermost layer of the skin.

Today’s cosmetic companies have refined the process that in the past could leave an individual with an orange coloration to a more healthy-looking tan that rivals the look of a tan that was achieved outdoors. You can expect your UV free tan to last approximately 7-10 days.
